AEPA Buckeye English Yearling In Hand

The AEPA English Yearling in Hand Class is held each year at The Buckeye Sweepstakes horse show in Columbus Ohio. Prize money, and the number of class placings that are paid prize money, is determined by the AEPA.

General Rules

To be eligible to show in the Yearling In Hand class the yearling MUST have been sired by a stallion that was an AEPA enrolled stallion for the breeding year that resulted in the yearling and be out of a nominated mare, e.g.. The foal’s sire is a 2011 AEPA Enrolled sire that is bred to a mare in 2011. The resulting foal, born in 2012 to a nominated mare, is eligible to participate in the 2013 English Yearling In Hand class.

AEPA English Yearling In Hand – MARE NOMINATION - To be eligible to enter a foal into the English Yearling In Hand class the Mare that is bred to an AEPA stallion MUST be nominated by March 31st of the foaling year, i.e. a mare that will foal in 2012 must be nominated by March 31, 2012. The AEPA form ‘Mare Nomination Buckeye Yearling In Hand’, located on the AEPA web site, MUST be completed and returned to the AEPA with the $100 nomination fee.

AEPA English Yearling In Hand – CLASS ENTRY – To participate in the English Yearling In Hand class the eligible yearling MUST be entered into the Yearling In Hand Class. The owner or agent of the yearling must enter the Buckeye Class #115, by filling out Buckeye Entries and paying the additional $100 AEPA fee required.

Class Specification – Are stated in the ‘Futurity In Hand Class Specifications’ file that is located on the AEPA web site. An AEPA representative may choose to meet with the yearling handlers, at the Buckeye show prior to the English In Hand class. During this meeting the AEPA representative will advise the handlers of class procedures, rules, and how the yearling is to be presented.

Shoes – Shoes without pads are allowed. No part of the shoe may exceed the dimensions of 5/8th inch wide or 5/16ths inch thick.

Judging – The Buckeye Judging panel, 3 judges, will be used to judge the English Yearling In Hand class. AEPA will provide judging instructional information to the Buckeye show management prior to the show. The Buckeye show management will provide this information to the Judging panel. At no time will the AEPA be in direct contact with the Judges.
